Town Of Plainfield, IN
DRG will help implement Plainfield’s tree management plan, tree assessments, inspecting planting sites, scheduling tree removal and pruning, and ensuring quality control. DRG will collaborate with Town staff, provide Arbor Day celebration planning, and work towards Tree City USA designation.
Setting Urban Forest Goals
Davey Resource Group, Inc. (DRG) will collaborate with the Town of Plainfield and other partners to implement Plainfield’s public tree management plan. This collaboration will involve working closely with Town staff through regular meetings to discuss progress and tasks. DRG will conduct a Level 2 assessment on 20% of the tree inventory and a Level 1 assessment on the remaining 80% to identify any trees that pose a high risk and need pruning or removal. DRG will also inspect around 50 potential planting sites, recommend suitable tree species, and provide a list of these sites to Town staff.
Implementing A Management Plan
DRG will schedule the removal of about 50 trees and stumps, as well as the pruning of up to 570 trees. This process will involve re-inspecting, marking trees, and providing lists to Town staff for the necessary notifications and bidding. The scope of tree maintenance will be determined by the available funds reported by Town staff. DRG will also write work specifications for proposal requests to facilitate the bidding process for the identified tasks and conduct quality control inspections of the contractor’s work based on these specifications. Furthermore, DRG will inspect, prune, and root collar up to 425 young trees to ensure a healthy young tree population. Finally, DRG will meet regularly with Town staff to plan an Arbor Day celebration and undertake other activities related to achieving the Tree City USA designation. This comprehensive approach ensures the effective management and enhancement of Plainfield’s urban forest.
