In 2019, DRG conducted street and park tree inventories for the City of Shoreview, MN, utilizing TreeKeeper software to enhance urban forest management. Combating Emerald Ash Borer Infestation With Tree Inventories
In 2019, the City of Shoreview enlisted Davey Resource Group, Inc. (DRG) to conduct a comprehensive inventory of street and park trees. Completed in December 2019, the data was integrated into the City’s TreeKeeper database, now essential for daily urban forest management.
This initiative stemmed from various factors. Firstly, since 2011, the City has been addressing emerald ash borer (EAB) infestations by incrementally inventorying park trees with summer interns. Subsequently, in 2019, the City decided to obtain a complete inventory of all boulevard and park trees.
Comprehensive Work Records Through TreeKeeper
Seeking software to merge these inventories with maintenance logs, including EAB-related activities like tree removals and ash injections, the City turned to DRG. DRG recommended using Davey’s TreeKeeper inventory software for data storage and access, catering to the needs of both the Parks and Natural Resources Departments.
Upon completion, DRG furnished the City with a comprehensive report detailing their trees’ economic and environmental benefits, offering valuable insights for city council deliberations.
