Natural Resource Conservation Service
In 2022, DRG began a multi-year project to enhance a 53-acre easement property's habitat. In 2023, they employed drone technology for initial chemical treatments, followed by spot treatments and aerial applications. The commitment extends to biodiversity enhancement in 2024.
Using Technology For Invasive Treatment
In 2022, Davey Resource Group, Inc. (DRG) secured a multi-year project to enhance a 53-acre easement property’s native habitat for wildlife, plant diversity, and hunting. Collaborating with the Natural Resource Conservation Service, local landowner, and USDA easement biologists, DRG identified treatment areas and best management practices.
In 2023, DRG employed a licensed drone pilot for an initial chemical blanket treatment over 37 acres to suppress the regrowth of non-native and invasive species. DRG mowed an additional 5.6-acre unit to improve herbicide application efficacy. DRG then conducted herbicide spot treatments with high-pressure power spraying, followed by aerial applications to address persistent target species.
Making Way For Native Vegetation
DRG is committed to follow-up treatment for the 2024 season, focusing on non-residual herbicide application to facilitate soil remediation and future native seeding and plug installation, thereby enhancing onsite biodiversity.
