City Of East Lansing, MI
The City of East Lansing enlisted Davey Resource Group, Inc. (DRG) to craft a comprehensive Tree Manual and Standards of Practice, guiding municipal tree management policies to ensure alignment with best practices, benefiting both the city and wider community.
Sticking To The Manual
The City of East Lansing contracted Davey Resource Group, Inc. (DRG) to develop a comprehensive tree manual and standards of practice aimed at creating and updating existing policies regarding municipal tree management. This 58-page manual serves as a crucial reference, aligning the city’s urban forestry activities with industry best practices and ensuring compliance with relevant ordinances and policies.
Establishing a robust framework for tree care, maintenance, and preservation, the manual draws upon industry-recognized standards from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) A300 and the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). Furthermore, it incorporates pertinent provisions from East Lansing’s city code to present applicable ordinances.
Reaping Additional Benefits
While primarily targeting public trees within East Lansing, the manual also serves as a valuable resource for the wider community, contractors, and developers. It offers guidance on tree planting procedures, care protocols, and best practices, ensuring consistency and efficacy in urban forestry endeavors throughout the city.
Moreover, upon the client’s request, DRG conducted a thorough review of existing ordinances and furnished tailored species lists, catering to both internal and external needs, further enhancing the city’s capacity for informed and effective tree management.
