Southeast U.S. Based Utility
When a contractor leaves midway through ROW reclamation project in Kentucky, Wolf Tree, Inc. stepped in to get the job done.
The Challenge
To ensure consistent and reliable service, a Southeast U.S.-based utility serving electric and natural gas customers in Kentucky wanted to reclaim the rights-of-way (ROWs) in Lexington and Louisville. The company used a bidding system to find a contractor.
Initially, the work was awarded to another contractor, but the contractor left midway through the project. Needing assistance, the utility reached out to their contacts at Davey Resource Group, Inc. (DRG). DRG quickly connected the utility with the team at Davey sister company Wolf Tree, Inc. to complete the project.
The Solution
Wolf Tree crews worked under an hourly contract on priority areas assigned by the utility. Crews started work in May 2019 in Lexington and moved to Louisville in September 2019, where they are still working to remove vegetation near ROWs.
The utility handled most of the pre-planning legwork for the project. They notified any homeowners who could be affected by the project before Wolf Tree’s crews arrived on-site, which allowed crews to work without disruption.
The Results
By leveraging their relationship with their sister company, Wolf Tree was able to provide assistance to the client in a time of need with positive results all around. The utility appreciates the crew’s work ethic and how they handle homeowner interaction. The project is incident-free so far, with crews working safely and productively.
Crews are expected to work in Louisville until early 2020 before returning to Lexington to complete the project.
