Sentara Leigh Hospital
Davey crews are on-site year round at Sentara Leigh Hospital, ensuring their campus continues to be a safe and welcoming environment for patients and visitors.
Sentara Leigh Hospital, based in Norfolk, VA, is a 247-bed acute care facility that opened in 1903. It houses a dedicated orthopedic hospital with a full continuum of care, from pre-operative to rehabilitation and home care. Sentara Leigh also provides a wide range of other medical services as an accredited Primary Stroke Center and Magnet recognition for nursing excellence.
Sentara Leigh is committed to providing the highest quality and safest patient care. This dedication can be seen through its pristinely kept grounds that continually stay in top shape through a close partnership with Davey.
Comprehensive Services That Meet Sentara Standards
Since 2021, Davey has been on-site at Sentara Leigh and its sister location, Sentara Norfolk, to provide comprehensive grounds maintenance services. A 5-person crew is on-site once a week to mow and treat turf, remove weeds, and tend to flower beds while a 4-person crew performs annual mulching services and flower rotations. Three times a year, a 3-person crew is on-site to prune trees and shrubs, and an irrigation specialist performs start up, shut down, and maintenance services on an as-needed basis.
Crews are at each campus year-round, ensuring patients, staff, and visitors are safe through snowy and icy conditions in the winter months. At Sentara Leigh, 5 tons of rock salt were used in 2023 to de-ice parking lots and walkways, while 4 tons of rock salt were used at Sentara Norfolk. Crews also follow Sentara’s zero-tolerance policy, plowing walkways and parking areas to avoid safety risks on the property during the snow season.
Mutual Trust & Dedication
Davey and Sentara Leigh’s relationship is built on a strong foundation of trust and communication. Davey understands Sentara Leigh’s commitment to a safe and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors, and ensures their outdoor spaces meet the hospital’s standards.
