Nashville Zoo
Davey’s long-time partnership with the Nashville Zoo helps the park create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for its visitors and staff through consistent and high-quality grounds maintenance services.
The Nashville Zoo opened in 1991 as a small private operation located 30 minutes northwest of Nashville, TN. In the decades that followed, it grew exponentially into a 188-acre Association of Zoo and Aquariums-accredited facility that is heavily involved in international conservation and research efforts for endangered species. The zoo has developed just under half of its land and has created a nature study area in the remaining space, which helps further the organization’s commitment to wildlife conservation.
The Nashville Zoo houses more than 3,700 animals representing more than 350 different species from across the globe. More than 1 million visitors visit the park annually. With such high foot traffic, the Nashville Zoo prioritizes cleanliness and safety while wanting to look its best.
Taming The Landscape
Since 2017, Davey has partnered with Nashville Zoo to maintain the grounds and trees at the park. Crews are on-site before the zoo opens, working quickly to tend to any tree trimming, plant health care services, and mowing that needs to be done before visitors arrive. In animal exhibits, crews trim trees to ensure animal and keeper safety and accessibility.
Crews also mow the festival field located near the center of the zoo, a space used for special events such as its annual fundraising event, Sunset Safari, and Zoolumination, a holiday light festival. Davey also helps with as-needed services like performing a tree inventory to help the organization receive Level 1 arboretum status from the Arbnet Arboretum Accreditation Program.
Davey demonstrates their commitment to the Nashville Zoo partnership by sponsoring several events organized by the park, as well as their greenhouse used to conserve native plants.
No Monkeying Around With Conservation
With Davey’s commitment to its partnership with the zoo, their quick work in early morning hours, and readiness to perform ad hoc zoo requests, this relationship with the Nashville Zoo continually grows and thrives.
Davey’s understanding of the zoo’s unique needs helps the park keep visitors, staff, and animals safe without sacrificing the natural beauty that surrounds them.
