Davey crews are on-site weekly during the growing season to help keep athletic fields at three high schools within the Dearborn Public School system in pristine conditions.
The Dearborn Public School District is the third largest school district in Michigan with almost 20,000 students in 37 schools across 36 buildings. Serving families in all of Dearborn and a small section of Dearborn Heights in the Detroit Metro Area, Dearborn Public Schools offers multiple programs, such as early college programs and trade studies, that focus on the success of the student body post-graduation.
The Dearborn athletics program offers a wide variety of sports for boys and girls, including football, soccer, track, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, field hockey, and gymnastics. These programs create a point of pride for the school district and showcase their commitment to athletics, attracting new community members. For outdoor sports, tidy athletic fields highlight the school district’s commitment to their programs. When Dearborn Public schools needed a group of grounds maintenance professionals to keep their athletic fields in top shape, they called on Davey’s expertise.
Champions Of Turf Maintenance
Davey Tree began working with Dearborn Public Schools in 2009 after being recommended to the school district by a mutual contact. During outdoor sports seasons, Davey crews are tending to all outdoor athletic fields, including football, soccer, softball, field hockey, and baseball fields, at three of the district’s high schools: Dearborn High School, Edsel Ford High School, and Fordson High School.
A three-person crew is on-site at least once a week during the growing season to apply fertilizer/weed control, fungicide, control weeds around fencing areas, maintain the irrigation systems, perform turf aeration, top-dressing and other cultural services. Davey also works on specialty projects for the school district, such as painting the fields, repairing synthetic turf fields when necessary, and performing any construction or renovation work, including baseball and softball fields.
