Cuyahoga County Public Library

The Cuyahoga County Public Library has 27 branches, each with unique landscaping and grounds management needs. Davey’s multi-division collaboration makes sure each branch’s needs are met.

Cuyahoga County is home to several well-known sights--the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Christmas Story House, and the beautiful Cleveland Metroparks to name just a few. Alongside the tourist attractions, Cuyahoga County is also home to a notable public library system.

With 27 branches sprinkled across diverse communities throughout the county, maintaining curb appeal for CCPL can be challenging. And with each location being unique, the services they need vary. Luckily, Davey is a one-stop-shop for CCPL’s commercial grounds management needs.

Since 2018, two of Davey’s commercial landscape offices have teamed up to provide complete grounds care and landscaping services to all of CCPL’s branches.

Davey crews are at the branches weekly to perform maintenance services like tree and shrub pruning, mowing, mulching, and seasonal cleanup. Arborists also perform tree care services like evaluations and removals on an as-needed basis.

Some CCPL branches have stormwater management features, like bioswales, on their properties that are used to drain and clean stormwater runoff from their parking lots. These stormwater management solutions, which are subject to local monitoring regulations, are maintained by Davey Resource Group, Inc. (DRG), Davey’s environmental consulting experts.

Cuyahoga County is home to harsh winters with large amounts of snowfall. Since the libraries have an in-house crew to handle snow plowing and salting services for their parking lots, Davey lends a hand by being on standby for any emergency plowing and shoveling the walkways around the buildings.

Davey’s relationship with CCPL is a partnership with frequent communication at every level. Weekly service reports submitted by Davey show CCPL the work done at their branches across northeast Ohio. Monthly meetings with CCPL upper management and site managers allow the client to be involved in Davey’s work, giving them a platform to raise concerns or make changes to services.
