i-Tree® helps anyone understand the value of trees based on the ecological benefits they provide. Whether keeping storm water out of your basement, removing pollution from the air your kids breathe, or trapping carbon in their branches, stems, and roots, i-Tree® documents the importance of trees through free and easy-to-use software tools. Launched in 2006, these innovative tools pack powerful, peer-reviewed US Forest Service science into an easy-to-use format that quantifies the ecological and economic value of stormwater mitigation, air pollution removal, carbon dioxide sequestration, and other ecosystem services provided by trees. i-Tree® can be used to quantify the benefits of Individual Trees, Tree Inventories, new Tree Planting projects, and larger areas of Tree Canopy, including forests.
i-Tree® is a not-for-profit, Public/Private Partnership funded primarily by the USDA Forest Service and The Davey Tree Expert Company to enhance community forest management and improve the environment. Other partners include the Arbor Day Foundation®, Urban & Community Forestry Society®, International Society of Arboriculture®, Casey Trees®, State of University of New York’s College of Environmental Science and Forestry, National Association of Foresters®, and American Forests®. With over a million users worldwide, it has become the global standard when it comes to quantifying the ecological and economic benefits that trees provide.
